The Hidden Truth v1.0
=====================
Amiga Notes
===========
System Requirements:
o 4mb ram (8mb+ recommended)
o AGA Chipset (Graphics Card Recommended)
o (Hard Drive Recommended)
o Workbench v3+
Loading Instructions:
o We have supplied 2 versions of Aweb for you to use on The Hidden Truth.
If you have limited memory on a basic machine (like just an A1200 with
some Fast RAM) you may prefer to use Aweb2.0. If you have an upgraded
Amiga you may prefer the more advanced Aweb3.0. Try both, then take your
pick.
o To run The Hidden Truth from the CD on an AGA Amiga, double-click the
Aweb_HiddenTruth icon. You will then be asked to select a Screenmode,
number of colours, and also whether you want greys or colours (greys can
look better sometimes.) If you do not have much RAM, you are advised to
stay away from any 256 colour screenmode - also, on standard Amiga's these
modes will be slow.
** NOTE: If you do not have a Multiscan monitor, DO NOT choose a Multiscan
or Super72 sceenmode!!! **
If you are using some 'ENV-Handler' or similar, these options may not work,
in which case you are advised to install Aweb to your Hard Drive, and alter
the preferences to suit yourself.
o If you have a CyberGFX (or compatible) equipped Amiga, you will be given the
chance to run the Hidden Truth on your Workbench screen. If you wish to use
a custom screen of your choosing, you are required to install Aweb to your
Hard Drive, and alter the settings to suit your system.
o To use your own screen-modes and preferences, you must double-click the
INSTALL icon to install AWeb to your hard drive. This is recommended, though
not essential.
NOTES:
o To read the Aweb purchasing information, hit the HELP key (recommended).
o If you sometimes get 'ERROR' on an image, it is probably due to a lack of
CHIP RAM (mostly happens if you pick a 256 colour screenmode). If this
happens, simply goto the 'CACHE' menu, then select 'Flush From Memory/All
Images'. Then hit RELOAD.
o If you are using Workbench 3.0 (v39), you are advised to copy the
'Setpatch_43.4' over your original c:setpatch command. This fixes some
small bugs and problems with the datatypes and CyberAVI player. You do not
NEED to do this if you are running wb3.1, although it is advised too.
o The original datatypes that come with Workbench do a poor job of choosing
appropriate colours at times. In the 'Other' directory, we have supplied
the 'V43Datatypes'. If you install these, you should get much better
quality picture quality in Aweb. You should also reduce your Chip Ram
usage greatly. However, these are not guaranteed to by 100% stable on
AGA-Only systems - so if you install them, and they don't work properly -
you are advised to go back to your original ones. Basically, you install
them at your own risk. If you have a cybergfx graphics card, you
are strongly advised to use them!
o We have setup the JPEG datatype supplied to show a progress bar while it is
decoding JPEG pictures in Aweb. You should see a small progress bar on your
screen, which shows how long a jpeg picture will take to show. This will
help owners of slower Amigas to see that something is happening. If you
find that your machine is too slow, you can switch off image loading in
the menu, that way only the text will be shown - but it will be a lot
quicker. We did not use a progress bar for GIF pictures, because there are
a lot more of them, and GIF images load quicker.
o The Hidden Truth is supplied with many GIF anims, to view them you must
use a different web browser, such as IBrowse or Voyager. NOTE: At the
time of writing, both VoyagerNG and Ibrowse contain some quite serious
tables and other bugs, which can lead to the display not showing as
intended. As these programs are updated, no doubt they will be fixed -
so keep an eye out for new versions!
**NOTE: Versions of Voyager and Ibrowse (with MUI) can be found in the
'Other' drawer **
**NOTE: If you decide to use Voyager you will need to load the file
'data/menu.htm' instead of index.htm!**
o When loading animations you may find that you have to swap screens (by
pressing LAmiga+M) to view them. Some animations are very large and
require more than 8mb's of ram (some may require 16meg+!!!!)
o While browsing this CDROM, if you find anything of special interest, you
can click the small '+' in the top-right area of the Aweb window - this
will add it to your 'Hotlist'. You can then immediately go to this area
again by showing your hotlist. NOTE: This feature may only be available
if you install Aweb to your Hard Drive - so this hotlist file can be
written.
o A word of advice - buy a graphics card, you'll then be able to see this CD
in thousands or even millions of colours, and MANY times faster than on an
AGA-only system. Basically, it will make a world of difference to your
Amiga computing!

AWeb 3.0 LocalDemo
==================
IMPORTANT
---------
If you want to try the demo before installing it, make sure you double-
click the "MakeAssign" icon. If you fail to run this, page headers in the
demo will be shown in ugly blocky characters. By default the demo uses the
'times' and 'courier' fonts in sizes that didn't came with your WorkBench.
INTRODUCTION
------------
AWeb-II is a fast and powerful World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
See the Docs/intro.html document for a list of features.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
AWeb needs:
o OS 3.0 or better.
o At least 2MB of memory as an absolute minimum. 3 MB or more is
highly recommended.
o Either AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225 or AS-225 if you want to access the Internet,
or a TCP stack that is compatible with one of these. Examples of
compatible products are Miami and TermiteTCP.
o Appropriate picture datatypes (GIF, JPEG) to show inlined images.
o The ClassAct gadget kit (included in the full distribution, not in this
demo).
THIS DEMO VERSION
-----------------
AWeb 3.0LOCALDEMO is a special demo version of AWeb-II 3.0. This version
lacks all network access, so you can only use it on local files.
A networking demo version is available from Aminet: biz/demo/AWeb.lha.
This demo version shows pages exactly like the full version does, but
many additional features are disabled in this demo. Most important
missing features are:
- the demo doesn't use multiple windows. Note that when a page has a
link to another document in a new window, this demo version will not
open a new window. The full version will.
- the demo doesn't read or save your hotlist.
See the Docs/full.html document for a complete list of differences.
DOCUMENTATION
-------------
The archive contains partial documentation in HTML format. Press the
HELP key when running the demo to bring up the documentation.
The full AWeb-II package contains all documentation.

AWeb 2.1 Local-only DEMO
========================
INTRODUCTION
------------
AWeb is a World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
It offers the following features:
o AWeb can use a wide range of TCP-stacks: AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225, AS-225
or compatible. Without TCP stack running, you can still view local files.
o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to load
while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow a link
while the previous document is still loading. A separate network status
window shows all pending network and local file accesses. All network
accesses can be interrupted immediately.
o The HTML-3.2 standard is fully supported.
For buggy pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a
compatibility mode.
o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases, the use
of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.
o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
external programs, FTP, Mailto, Telnet and News can be used too.
HTTP user authorization is supported.
o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load only
clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images, the ALT text
is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported. The 24-bit picture
datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.
o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are cached
so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
public screen or open its own screen.
o AWeb has a hierarchical hotlist, with options to group entries.
In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read other hotlists, like
those of AMosaic and early IBrowse betas.
o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.
o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell command
interface.
This DEMO version cannot access the net. You can view local files only.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
